Part 1 – Reading To and With Your Child: Best Practices for Growing Confident Readers

Parents want their children to be proficient readers but are often unsure of how to support their emergent readers. This presentation will provide practical methods to encourage positive reading outcomes that you can begin using right away to make reading time with your child a joyful and engaging experience for both adult and child. Literacy specialist and children’s librarian, Rhonda Cunha, will guide you through the most essential research-based best practices when reading with your emergent reader, and show you ways to keep engagement high when reading to your child. Rhonda will discuss why read-alouds are so crucial to literacy development and will provide time to answer your questions and concerns.

Free, all welcome. Designed for parents and caregivers. No childcare at the event.
