Programs
Note: All programs began in November. Please call the Children’s Room at 978-688-9538 to check for openings and sign up for any of these programs!
Registration for all after school programs will take place during the week of September 17, in the children’s room. The programs will begin the first week in November, a departure from our usual October 1st start date. The Stevens Library will be getting new carpeting (one of their birthday presents during its 100th birthday celebration) so the library will probably need to be closed a few days; rather than interrupt programs that have just begun the decision was made to start all after school activities the first week of November. We look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new friends. The children’s room is planning something for all ages: 3½ year olds through grade 6. Please feel free to call or e-mail with any questions.
Pre-School Story Hour: (PSSH) Every Thursday morning from 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. or Thursday afternoon from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. Children must already be 3½ years of age at time of registration.
Kindergarten Story Time: Tuesday mornings at 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. or Tuesday afternoons at 1:00 – 1:30 p.m.
Story Time for Grades 1 & 2: After school on Tuesdays from 3:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Book Club for Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6: The student who will get the most out of being a member of a book club is the student who clearly loves to read for recreation, and also enjoys discussing books and listening to the opinions of others. The commitment to join a book club is taken seriously. We will meet every other week and aim to read two books per month depending on the length of the books. The members of the book club will vote on the books they want to read after listening to booktalks. We will start off reading books from the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award Master List so that North Andover children will be eligible to vote for the winning title in April. Once we’ve read 5 titles we can go on to reading books that are not on the Master List. Please feel free to call with questions concerning the choices for our Book Club reads.
