Kill-a-Watt Meters at the Library

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

The North Andover Sustainability Committee has placed 3 Kill-a-Watt meters at the Library. Use a meter to see how much electricity is being used by various appliances in your home.  Meters may be checked out for a 2-week period; if all meters are out, you may reserve one when it’s returned.

Database Spotlight

Monday, February 8th, 2010

This Month’s Featured Database is:

This month, the Library is featuring Issues and Controversies in American History. With Issues and Controversies in American History, history comes to life not as a mere recitation of names and dates, but as a series of turning points where the future hung in the balance and opinions raged on all sides. This database builds a deeper understanding of how historical events have shaped our nation by exploring the key players and the battles they fought. Each in-depth exploration delivers dynamic, concise, and balanced reporting that provides the background, outcomes, and contemporary points of view for the major topics in every American history curriculum. Value of Library Services

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

What is your Library Worth to you?

The Stevens Memorial Library represents slightly more than 1% of the total municipal budget. To provide services to our entire community, the Library spends less than the cost of one hard cover book per resident. With these funds, we make available the entire public library system (370 libraries, networks and regions) of the state of Massachusetts. This wealth of resources includes books, magazines, newspapers, reference material, online databases, free Internet access, audio-visual collections and an abundance of resources that inform, entertain, and enrich the lives of North Andover residents. For this small investment, our Library provides significant cost savings each time you borrow from our collections, utilize one of our computer resources, or attend one of our programs, just to name a few of our many popular services. Stevens Memorial Library offers North Andover residents the best value for their tax dollars. Visit the Mass Library Association “Values Calculator” to determine how much our Library saves you and your family each visit, each week, or each month of each year.
